Join Us at Green Drinks!
Cara Fleischer will be this month's Green Drinks speaker on the topic, “Global Climate Action: Lessons from the UN COP25 Climate Conference in Madrid.”
Cara attended the UN COP25 Climate Conference as a Christian Observer representative of the Florida United Methodist Church, and she will share her experiences there. She’ll give us her insight about how the rest of the world responded to the Trump administration pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement, about the 35,000 climate leaders who come together for negotiations, and about the youth-led and indigenous people's movements that took center stage as Greta Thunberg and others spoke about the need for urgency.
Back at home, Cara is a Leon Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor and advocates for issues important to the residents of Leon County including clean water, air and better access to natural sites. She is active in many local and environmental endeavors, including writing articles in the Tallahassee Democrat, starting the Creation Care Ministry at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church in Midtown, being a member of the Florida United Methodist Church Creation Care Task Force, and starting the Tallahassee Green Faith Alliance.
Cara is on the board of ReThink Energy Florida and is the Communications Chair for the Tally100 Coalition that is assisting Tallahassee in moving to 100% Renewable Energy by 2050. She was selected as a 2018 Tallahassee Democrat 25 Women You Need to Know.

Green Drinks gatherings combine
an opportunity for conversation,
meeting others interested in sustainability,
and hearing an interesting speaker
on a sustainability topic.
We will be shifting this month’s Green Drinks to a Facebook Live event. We are still working out the logistics and will provide an update as soon as possible.
