Lake Henrietta Trash Cleanup Event – by Sustainable Tallahassee

  • April 08, 2017
  • 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
  • Lake Henrietta Park, 3305 Springhill Road, on the east side of Springhill Rd between Orange Ave and Capital Circle SW Tallahassee

Please join Sustainable Tallahassee's Water Resources Committee for a cleanup day at Lake Henrietta Park.

Lake Henrietta Park was originally constructed by Leon County as a regional stormwater management facility in 2000-2001 to mitigate flooding and improve water quality within the Munson Slough.

Stormwater runoff from much of Tallahassee drains to and through Lake Henrietta, depositing trash and sediment collected along the way.  Despite the utilitarian function of the facility, the park has become a popular destination for birds and bird watchers as well as other outdoor enthusiasts who take advantage of the multiuse trail.

Trash bags and a portable restroom will be on-site. You will need to bring your own drinking water, insect repellent, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes and a hat.

Parking is located at 3305 Springhill Rd, but space is limited so it is recommended to call or text Charley Schwartz, Sustainable Tallahassee board member, at 251-716-6218 in advance. This event coincides with the Southside Big Clean & Day of Service.
