“Solar Comes to Tallahassee in a Big Way”

  • March 26, 2017
  • 3:00 PM
  • Myers Park Community Center, 912 Myers Park, Tallahassee

Center for Inquiry and Sustainable Tallahassee will co-sponsor a presentation about the City’s huge 60 MW Solar Farm and Solar Farm Tariff customer participation program.

The speaker is David Byrne, P.E, COT Manager, Electric System Planning and manager of this Solar Farm Project.

David's presentation will include:

  • An update on the 60 MW solar farm that will occupy about 370 acres south of the airport. It will be built in two stages (Phase one 20 MW will occupy 120 acres and phase two 40 MW will occupy  250 acres).
  • The plan to add many 9.3 MW peaking generators, reciprocating engines that are nimble for quick start and stop for times when clouds appear in front of the sun or on rainy days. Older less, efficient generating units will be retired.
  • The city’s Solar Customer Participation program.

There is no charge to attend, but RSVP’ing your attendance will be appreciated HERE.
