Whole Foods Pre-Opening Benefit for Sustainable Tallahassee - October 3, 2013


A week before its October 2013 grand opening, Whole Foods hosted a benefit event and donated all the funds to Sustainable Tallahassee.  We are honored and very appreciative that Whole Foods reached out to us to promote Sustainable Tallahassee. 

250 people attended, each paying $20, and enjoyed an excellent barbecue buffet, bar, and live music by the Houston Deese band.  Food and drinks were provided by area providers, including Thompson Farms, White Oak Pastures, Proof Brewing Co., Cigar City Brewing, & Caymus Winery.

Whole Foods donated $5,000 to Sustainable Tallahassee - 100% of the event registrations!

Whole Foods impressed us with its commitment to community and sustainability by the lack of disposable serving utensils used at the event, its recycling program, composting system, rainwater catchment system, the recycled materials used in the store, and its community outreach. 

Hosting the registration table were ST Board members Mark Powell, Tom Taylor, Becky Parsons, and Ed Bettinger, Executive Director Stew Parsons, and members Debbie Gibson and Jim Crews.
