WHAT WE DO
Green Drinks – We have a monthly gathering with an interesting speaker and the chance to network with other folks and exchange ideas on sustainability. Join us on the last Monday of each month - check our calendar for the exact date and location of the next gathering.
Community Collaboration – We work to effect change on an area-wide scale by facilitating community discussion and advocacy. Some of these initiatives are the Community Carbon Fund, ECO Teams, Capital Area Sustainability Council, and “Greening Our Community” blogs.
Good Green News –Our e-newsletter keeps you current with information about Sustainable Tallahassee and upcoming events.
Calendar – Our website calendar displays community sustainability events from many organizations. If your email editor is Outlook or Mac you’ll be able to download events directly to your calendar. You also have the option for RSS feeds of events.
Community Carbon Fund - Our Community Carbon Fund is one of our most successful initiatives. Funds donated are spent locally for energy efficiency projects in our community that lower energy use and utility bills for nonprofits that serve the community, and for capturing carbon with tree plantings. Both enhance environmental quality by reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions. Local impact makes our Community Carbon Fund unique.
Eco-Teams – Sustainable Tallahassee coordinates citizen study/action groups with the goal to reduce energy, water, waste, and vehicle impacts, all to enhance our quality of life. These EcoTeam citizen groups can be made of people within your neighborhood, workplace, church, synagogue, civic organization, family, or friends.
Capital Area Sustainability Council – The Council is made up of local organizations and governmental entities that have the ability to influence sustainability in our community It serves as a clearing house for the exchange of ideas and information, to promote collaboration and cooperation on sustainability projects and issues, and to eliminate or reduce duplication of effort among the participants.
