This year is Sustainable Tallahassee’s tenth anniversary and we celebrated our birthday and annual meeting with a record crowd of about 150! A great gathering to support sustainability, and to see old friends and make new ones. It was especially great to welcome so many first time participants!
We were honored to have Kristin Dozier, Leon County Commissioner, speak of Sustainable Tallahassee’s beginning and her role in launching the organization we have today. Find out how we began HERE.
There were two action items voted on by the membership:
Outgoing president Bob Henderson opened the meeting and conducted the business portion. President-elect Katherine Preston gave a PowerPoint summary of Sustainable Tallahassee's accomplishments.
A special tribute was made to Jim Davis, our Executive Director for the past three years, who is retiring from the position. He has worked hard and donated much of his personal time in endeavors that build relationships and foster interest in increasing access to healthy local foods, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, reducing single-use plastics, making local festivals green, and much, much more.
We will miss his leadership and are grateful for the many ways he generously donated his time and support.
The energy at the celebration was an awesome reinforcement of the commitment that we, and all of us in Sustainable Tallahassee, are making for a better and more sustainable community and life for our future and our children’s futures.
