alternative christmas market - dec 1 & 2, 2012

December 2012 was Sustainable Tallahassee’s first time to participate in the Alternative Christmas Market at the John Wesley United Methodist Church, with a booth where gift donations could be made to our Community Carbon Fund in the name of a gift recipient.  We were overwhelmed by the positive feedback from people who feel our Community Carbon Fund is a valuable service to our community and who believe sustainability is a high priority!

The church has held this event for more than 25 years as an alternative to the over-commercialization of Christmas gift giving and as a fund raiser for non-profit organizations that serve people in need.

The added benefit is the opportunity to visit with others and learn about the  more than 30 non-profit organizations that participated.  How fortunate we are in Tallahassee to have such an enriching community of people who care about others!

Special credit is due to Debbie Gibson who organized Sustainable Tallahassee’s participation and worked hard for this event.
