Sustainable Tallahassee began in 2007 as “Greenovation”. That year 31 community catalysts were selected by the Knight Creative Communities Initiative to assess the region’s potential for economic growth, establish a broad community vision, and promote economic prosperity in the region. Greenovation was one of the four initiatives created by the KCCI catalysts in its first year in Tallahassee.
The Greenovation team established a non-profit organization to carry out its mission and adopted the name Sustainable Tallahassee. The celebration of Sustainable Tallahassee’s official launch was in May 2008 at the Mary Brogan Museum. Below are photos from that kick-off event. The museum was packed – it was an exciting beginning! For more details of the origin of Sustainable Tallahassee click HERE.
